Time to update you all on our happenings...
Misty's mom came to visit 2 weeks ago for 3 days. She got to see my wedding dress and help pick out bridesmaid dresses. We did some wedding shopping and a lot of hanging out at home just catching up - it was a good time. We can't wait to have her again soon.
This past week has been fun for us. We attended our church's ice cream social on Wednesday and played volleyball - Misty learned she should not plan on making that a hobby!! Nick on the other hand thinks he could win a gold medal :-p... Misty's aunt was also in town on Wednesday so she got to see our house and we all had steak dinner at her friends before she headed to Washington D.C. for the weekend. We are also glad we got to spend some time with her.
Misty's dad was in town this weekend with a chainsaw and a pickup! Nick and Duane cut down all of our trees in our back yard before Misty was home from work on Friday. After some clean up we planted 20 lilac bushes in their place. It was a lot of hard work and we appreciate all the help Duane was and can't wait until yet another one of Misty's dreams come true - wonderful smelling lilacs in her yard!!

NO MORE LIME GREEN WALLS!!
Well hello everyone that follows this blog. I know I know it has been over a month but I have an excuse. We finally got our house painted, which means the computers had to be turned off and unplugged. It took him 1o days to do, but it looks wonderful we are so happy to have our style in our house. We will continue to upgrade as the budget allows. If any one wants some pics I will upload some sometime just let me know.
Anyways, I have been working steady for a month or so now, so thats good. Misty is still at her job working 12 hour shifts, which we don't really like but it helps pay bills for now.
My mom came to visit earlier in the month, we had a good time. We made an addition to the squirrel feeders by putting one in the front yard so I can watch as I am sitting in the chair. Thanks mom. Mom if you think it was windy when you were here you should see today, 50mph winds. So strong they blew over our porch swing on the deck. And since we live at a T intersection I end up with everyones trash cans on trash day in my yard.
Well thats all can think of for now so until next time--
Love
Nick & Misty
Ps
See you all at AD's for Fourth of July!!!

One month later...
So it has been pretty eventful around here. Nick worked his first full 40 hour week this week after having 3 months off. We are excited to be able to catch up on a few things and have a little spending money again. But with everything that is going on - savings will come first! Plus we are keeping our part time jobs for a while.
We have been cake tasting for a while and finially found a lady who does it as a hobby for the best price and GREAT cake. Now we will work on negotiating the flowers! We are having so much fun planning our big day. Even though days or moments might be stressful when we think about how all the work will come together on October 10th it makes it all worth while! We are excited to share this wonderful time with friends and family!
Also Misty purchased her Wedding gown 2 weeks ago on Craigslist for $150!! We have to give all the credit to Misty's dad for making her watch a news video online about a lady who saved a bunch of money on her wedding. Misty looked at Craigslist with little hope that she would find a dress she liked in her area - but this time it worked out perfectly. The lady purchased it for her wedding, but couldn't fit her chest into the dress (obviously Misty will not have that problem) so she had to buy a different dress. What a deal! Misty is excited to get it to the seamstress and have it remade to exactly what she wants!
Nick played plumber this week when a pipe started leaking under out bathroom sink! It is great to have such a handy guy around!
After receiving our tax money we are ready to take the next step in making our house our own by having the interior painted. We are going to have the Kitchen, Living room, Family room and entry painted including the ceilings and trim. We have lived with the lime green walls for far too long and it is time for a change. It is a wonderful feeling to know that it is your's and you can cusomize it for you!
Misty started working her 12 hour day shifts this last week and will be working this weekend. Since Nick has been off work he has been doing all the laundry and most of the dishes and cleaning. Since he is back to work Misty had to spend some of her days off this week catching up on these things. Misty is truely thankful for having such a wonderful partner in life!!! Thanks babe!
I hope that you all are as ready for the warm weather as we are. Nick is going to put up our swing this weekend so we can enjoy our backyard ASAP! Keep in touch and God Bless!

Happenings...
I know it has been a while since we have last blogged and believe me we have heard your cries for our update...so here it is.
In the last several weeks we have been working on more wedding planning - invitations, cake tastings (yum!) and flower quotes. Misty was supposed to visit her mom and go dress shopping one last time this weekend but she caught a cold and is now stuck at home to recooperate.
Nick has been working at Fantasy's gas station on Sunday's and Wednesday's. It cuts into his race schedule but he seems to be handling it pretty well. We both keep reminding ourselves that part time jobs are just temporary and they soon will pass.
This week was a rough one for Misty as her current position was eliminated due to a Reduction in the workforce at her company. 25% of their employees were laid off but Misty was fortunate to have senioity in her department and was able to accept another position working 12 hour day shifts and going back on a weekend and holiday rotation. It is not ideal but we are counting our blessings.
For Valentine's day we spent 32 hours in our main bathroom painting the trim, ceiling, vanity and walls. We also switched the mix and match gold and silver hardware all to brushed nickel. We hung a new light fixture and Nick says it is a "State of the art bathroom." We are so excited to have our first home improvement project done on our new home. We did have a candlelight dinner to top off the weekend!
We hope that this helps to keep you in the loop. Please feel free to keep in touch with calls and emails!

On the Horizons...
Well last weekend didn't turn out for us. My best friend's son was not feeling well so we decided to stay at home. I did go dress shopping in Omaha with one of my bridesmaids but none of them jumped out at me. But it was WONDERFUL to have a weekend for the two of us to enjoy together!
This week Nick has heard that there should be a job call soon and also has an interview for a part time job on Wednesday!! Misty starts her part time job on Monday 1/19/09 so we will be very busy people for a little while to get caught back up!
Misty is going to attempt the trip to KC this weekend for more dress shopping - who knew picking out one simple white dress was going to be so time intensive?? Nick has not decided if this trip is for him. He has signed up to be on a negotiating committee for their contracts this year (Nick will have to correct me in the next one if I am wrong :-) ) and may have to help with that - but I know it is just an excuse to stay in Omaha.
Thanks for checking in...

Road trip
Hello everyone who checks this site out, and some you who do it multiple times a day!!! thanks for the support!!
Well not much new here, I am still out of work, have been for 3 weeks. May have a job or 2 come open next week at a different company. So I will be sure to jump on that.
We are going to drive to KC tomorrow after work and stay with Misty's best friend and her family. Misty is going to try on some more wedding dresses, which I hear takes all day long. She told me she had 17 pages of dresses she is interested in when looking online. Should be a fun day for me. I will try and sneak away to a movie theatre or something.
We watched the first episode of Biggest loser the other night and man were the tears flowing. I feel sorry for some of those people and will be cheering them on all season long.
Well I think thats it for now. Will keep ya'll updated as to the work situation and the wedding dress shopping....Stay tuned

Icy Conditions exist
Hello Everyone:
New site to keep everyone who cares updated on us and our lives.
We headed out shopping early this morning as it was raining. About 2 hours later as we exited the store much to our surprise we had to ice skate to our car!! After Nick found a coat in the trunk (because he didn't need one today!) and some scraping we were on our way. What should have taken us about 10 minutes to get home took about 30-40 and several prayers that we would make it up the hill to our home. We stopped to get movies and will be enjoying the rest of the day on the couch!
